Are You Eligible for a Fee Waiver?

The naturalization application fee is $725 (including the $85 biometric services fee) through March 31, 2024. Starting April 1, 2024, the application fee is $710 for those filing online and $760 for those filing on paper by mail. There will no longer be a separate biometrics fee.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) offers a fee waiver program and a reduced fee option to applicants who meet certain requirements. Use the calculator below to find out if you are eligible for a waiver of the application fee or for the reduced fee.

Do you receive a government benefit based on being low-income?

Examples include Medicaid (health care), SNAP (Food Stamps), or other benefits based on being low-income.

Household Size

Count these people:

  • Yourself
  • The head of household (primary income earner) if not you
  • Your spouse if you are living together
  • Dependent children
  • Your parents if they are living with you

Annual Household Income

Add up the annual income for all household members including you.

Include salary, unemployment benefits, Social Security benefits, child support, alimony, parental support, educational stipends, pensions, Veterans’ benefits, royalties, and other support.

If you filed taxes, use your Adjusted Gross Income on your IRS 1040 plus the income of household members not included on your tax return.
