NAC welcomeThe International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit , a New Americans Campaign partner in Detroit, houses a 60-organization “Welcome Mat Network” for newcomers to the United States.  The network is comprised of ethnic and immigrant-serving organizations, and now promotes Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs) to register and participate in naturalization workshops.  In the fall of 2012, State Representative Rashida Talib hosted one of their N-400 application workshops, attending the event and personally greeting each participant.

The purpose of the project is to grow Southeast Michigan’s economy by capitalizing on the strength of and by welcoming immigrants, refugees, international talent, international investment, and global connections. Read more about this Global Detroit project here.
