The Miami Dolphins will provide the New Americans Campaign with an opportunity to air public service announcements in English on its radio station, Finsiders 940 AM, and streamed live on its website, as well as in Spanish on game day broadcasts on 1210 AM, and streamed live on the local ESPN Spanish language website.
The opportunity arose thanks to the National Immigration Forum’s New American Workforce program, a partner of the New Americans Campaign. Through the initiative, businesses assist their eligible immigrant employees with the citizenship process so they become full participants in the workplace, community and economy.
The Dolphins are a New American Workforce partner, and Dolphins employees have connected with local legal service providers at Catholic Legal Services of Miami and the International Rescue Committee, which are also partners of the Campaign, to complete their citizenship applications.
The public service announcements will help to increase the number of lawful permanent residents in Miami learning about citizenship assistance in their local community. Citizenship services are made possible through the partnerships of the New Americans Campaign and through funders, including the Knight Foundation, which has invested heavily in Miami, among many other cities across the nation.
The Miami Dolphins joins a growing list of professional sports teams that are promoting citizenship community outreach efforts.
