Our national partners here at the New Americans Campaign wasted little time in making 2014 a great year to become a citizen.

Our friends over at the International Rescue Committee opened up the year looking forward to continued success with their Pathway to Citizenship program – they’re helping refugees and other eligible permanent residents take their first step towards citizenship by providing free professional assistance and citizenship test preparation classes.

Out west, Asian-Americans Advancing Justice kicked off the year with a press conference to announce their new ESL and Civics for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders program to help Asian communities in Los Angeles better prepare for the naturalization exam. They were the only Los Angeles based organization to receive a grant for this work from USCIS.

And, just a few hours north, SIREN and other San Jose service providers began setting the groundwork for the first ethnic media roundtable of the semester. Next Friday, January 18th, ethnic and local San Jose media will have the opportunity to hear about the great work that the New Americans Campaign is doing in the Bay Area from local service providers and eligible permanent residents.

It’s a roaring start to 2014 – our national partners and local service providers are ramped up for what looks to be a great year for new Americans.
